Thomas E. Kennedy is an American fiction writer of imminent fame. A skilled writing teacher, literary critic and essayist, Kennedy has been living and writing in Denmark since the 1970s. Kennedy´s stories have appeared in scores of journals in North America and Europe. In 1987, he edited the Danish dossier in Frank 6/7.
Kennedy´s books include three novels, two story collections (most recently DRIVE, DIVE, DANCE & FIGHT), four of literary criticism, several anthologies and his most recent, REALISM & OTHER ILLUSIONS: Essays on the Craft of Fiction, from Wordcraft of Oregon (early 2002). His stories, essays, poems,
interviews, reviews, and translations from the Danish appear regularly in anthologies and periodicals in the North America and Europe. His stories have won O Henry, The European, Pushcart, Gulf Coast, and Charles Angoff
awards and have been cited repeatedly for honorable mention in the Pushcart Prize, Best American Short Stories, etc. He has taught in the Vermont College MFA Program, the Ploughshares Emerson College International Fiction Seminar (1990-2000), and is currently on the International Faculty of the Fairleigh Dickinson University MFA Program. A frequent visiting lecturer in American and Danish universities, he holds a B.A. (summa cum laude) from Fordham University, an M.F.A. from Vermont College, and a Ph.D. from Copenhagen University. He was International Editor of CIMARRON REVIEW from 1990-2000, in which capacity he gathered many special dossiers of international fiction. Currently he is International Editor of STORYQUARTERLY and of POTPOURRI and Advisory Editor of THE LITERARY REVIEW, of which he has guest-edited numerous anthology issues -- including the creative writing texts, STORIES & SOURCES (1998) and POEMS & SOURCES (2000). Forthcoming is THE SECRET LIFE OF THE WRITER, co-edited with Walter Cummins.
