Leo Tuor, born 1959 in Rabius, lives in Surrein. The Romansh he writes in, his Sursilvian mother tongue, is used by about 20,000 people. His poem "Giacumbert Nau" caused controversy in his home district Graubünden: not everybody appreciated his open words going contrary to the traditional Romansh canon. He has now given up his summer job as a shepherd on the Greina. After publishing a report on his experiences as one of a hundred writers on the Literary Express, a train which crossed Europe from Lisboa to Moscow in 2000, he is planning to tackle the topic of hunting in a literary way, another hot issue in the agrarian mountainous regions of Switzerland.
